What is Telemedicine and why does it matter to you?
Picture this: it’s 8pm on a Monday night and your 4 year old has a rash. They don’t have a fever and are not complaining of any discomfort, so your mommy intuition says it doesn’t medical immediate attention, but you aren’t 100% sure. Not to mention, loading everyone up into the car to drive to the nearest Your Kid’s Urgent Care sounds like a lot of work… Wouldn’t it be great if you could see a Pediatric Provider from the comfort of your home?!
We are excited to announce that all of our offices will be offering Telemedicine Visits starting January 1, 2020. Our telemedicine platform connects you with an experienced Your Kid’s Urgent Care provider from anywhere, anytime. No loading the kids into the car, no drive time, no waiting room.
Telemedicine offers a convenient and affordable alternative to carting the whole family down to Your Kid’s Urgent Care when unplanned illness or injury occurs. A virtual visit allows our pediatric providers to see and hear your concerns, and offer the same care as if you were physically in our office.
So, how does it work?
Simply download the “Anytime Pediatrics” app on your smart device and create an account using our unique practice code:

Once your account has been created, you will be prompted to fill out information on your patient, the reason for their visit, past medical history, and insurance. It is important to be prepared to input your child’s medical history, list of current medications, and their current temperature, height and weight, in order to help us to better diagnose your child during their virtual visit. Our telemedicine portal will also allow you to upload photos and/or videos to help our providers better understand the symptoms your child is experiencing. After all of the required information is collected, you will be placed in our “virtual waiting rom” until our pediatric provider is ready to start your virtual visit.
What can be treated with Telemedicine? Don’t you need to see my child in person?
We understand that it can be scary to think about a virtual visit when your child is in need of services from an urgent care. If your child is sick, you feel comfortable calling their Pediatrician to explain their symptoms, correct? A virtual visit is similar to this, except that we have the benefit of being able to see and hear you and your child to accurately understand the situation and diagnose the problem. We know how to ask the right questions, to get the answers needed to determine whether we can diagnose the patient during a virtual visit, or whether the patient needs to come into the office for further evaluation.
There are many common pediatric illnesses that can be diagnosed without actually seeing a patient in person. Some of the most common reasons you may want to utilize our telemedicine services include:
- Minor Lacerations
- Pink Eye
- Common Cold
- (This is not an exhaustive list)
Every patient visit bring its own unique circumstance, so it is important to understand that not all telemedicine visits will end in a diagnosis. There will be times that the provider is able to quickly diagnose, send a prescription to your pharmacy, and you will be moving on with your day; and there will be times when the provider needs more information from the patient, in which case an in-office visit may be required for an accurate diagnosis.
